About GreenLight Initiative

GreenLight Initiative is a Nigerian non-profit organization that is keen on saving lives through prevention of violent deaths and injury. We employ evidence-based interventions and advocacy campaigns to reduce death rates and injuries on the roads of Africa’s largest country. Our non-profit organization, which commenced operations in March 2013, is registered with the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission and in partnership with several reputable government agencicies as well as private organisations. GreenLight produces and broadcasts a widely-tuned in weekly road safety radio program, on the Nigeria Armed Forces Radio 107.7fm, Abuja.

We at GreenLight Initiative since inception have been driven by the sheer passion to significantly reduce the high rate of fatality and damage to property that occur as a result of road accidents and other violent occurrences. We are also determined to create a more favorable and conducive environment that will benefit all menbers of society. Below are our key intervention programs:

GreenLight initiative aims at decreasing the high rate of road crashes in Nigeria with the following evidence-based interventions:

  • Placement of stickers in public taxis/buses to encourage passengers speak up against speeding.
  • Advocacy towards the creation of new and enhancement of already existing legislative bills relating to road safety.
  • Increasing awareness among drivers through radio programs, road walks, social media engagements and seminars.
  • Conducting train-the-trainer programs for road safety advocates.
  • Sensitization workshops for public drivers in bus garage/parks.
