Overview

GreenLight Initiative in partnership with Georgetown University Initiative on Innovation, Development and Evaluation (gui2de) is working to implement the Zusha Road Safety Campaign in Nigeria.

Zusha! is a Swahili word that means ‘speak up’. It is a cost-effective intervention proven to reduce road accidents and save lives. Stickers placed inside of public service vehicles encourage and empower passengers to speak up directly to their drivers against dangerous driving.

The purpose of the collaboration is to test behavioral messages on stickers put up in passenger vehicles to reduce the rate of accidents which was initiated and developed by gui2de. This intervention has been shown to reduce road traffic crashes by over 25% in Kenya as part of the Zusha study carried out by Gui2de. GreenLight Initiative with gui2de mutually agreed to replicate the Zusha intervention in Nigeria.
