GreenLight raises public awareness about good health, safety, sustainable transport, and environmental protection because these are essential for community well-being. By educating the public, we aim to reduce road crashes, promote healthier lifestyles, and encourage environmentally friendly practices. Through our campaigns, we empower individuals to make informed decisions that contribute to a safer and more sustainable future.
GreenLight Initiative plays a crucial role in advocating for the implementation and enforcement of laws that promote public health, safety, and environmental sustainability. By engaging with stakeholders, policymakers, and youth, GreenLight champions the inclusion of women and young people in road safety decision-making processes. These efforts aim to foster a culture of accountability and resilience in communities, making roads safer for everyone.
GreenLight Initiative has built a strong capacity for research and development, focusing on promoting good health, safety, sustainable transportation, and environmental conservation. The organization’s team of research experts collects, records, and analyzes data to gain insights into people’s perspectives on these issues, enhancing the effectiveness of its interventions.
GreenLight believes in the power of youth to drive change. Through initiatives like Traffic Safety Advocates Training and school-based quiz and debate competitions, the organization equips young people with the tools and knowledge they need to advocate for safer roads and sustainable communities. The “Catalyzing Youth Actions for Accountability in Governance” project further expands this focus by developing leadership skills among youth to foster positive governance outcomes.
In a bit to respond to the challenges of COVID-19 within the transportation sector, GreenLight developed the Safety Training during COVID-19, a 3-In-One blended training program which aimed to empower drivers with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) skills, First Aid skills, and Road Safety measures.
GreenLight piloted the first phase of the training in six States within the six geopolitical zone of Nigeria. A total of 453 frontline drivers were trained exceeding the initial target of 360.
To improve road safety and environmental stewardship, GreenLight has conducted a series of workshops and training programs. The organization empowers individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to become change agents. Recent efforts have included training frontline health workers and drivers, focusing on reducing road crashes, combating climate change, and addressing challenges posed by COVID-19.
GreenLight Initiative amplifies its message through various media campaigns across all its social media platforms, including the “SaferRoad SafeMe” program. This initiative uses various platforms, such as social media and a weekly 1-hour radio segment on Radio Maria 91.3FM Abuja. Interactive social media hashtag ‘#SaferRoad_SafeMe’ further promotes sustainable mobility and environmental consciousness, educating the public about road safety regulations.
GreenLight Initiative is excited to extend its impact with the launch of our new branch in Ghana.
