Trained advocates champion road safety campaign in Kaduna State Nigeria
GreenLight Initiative trained safety advocates Emmanuel Ukanwoke C with NYSC State Code KD/19A/0633 organized public enlightenment program on road safety for 35 members of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Kaduna Editorial Board CDS group in Kaduna. Recall that on the 11th July 2019, Corps member Emmanuel Ukanwoke was one of the 46 corps members trained to become traffic safety advocates, a training organized by GreenLight Initiative with support from the U.S. Embassy Abuja.
Speaking during the program, Mr. Emmanuel remarked that he engaged in the enlightenment session with the NYSC Kaduna Editorial Board CDS group today as a way of giving back to the community, our major area of discussion was hinged on the need for young people to realize the rate at which we are losing fellow young people and adults to death in cases of Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs).
From the knowledge I gained at the GreenLight Initiative Advocates Training, I was able to help them understand the need for an increased awareness of safe practices on the road, the importance of learning proper driving skills before driving on the road, so as to curb the extent to which the main causative factor of RTCs (Human factors) will remain prevalent.
